Nashville --- The Tennessee State University softball team
dropped a, 10-0, decision to Southeast Missouri Sunday afternoon at Tiger
Field.
Seniors Jalisa Bradley, Caitlin Eaton, Jill Gardner and Brittany Webb were honored before the game.
Caitlin Eaton (6-14) was charged with the loss while Stephanie
Barnes (3-1) earned the win for SEMO.
Southeast Missouri (17-21, 11-7 OVC) pounced on starting
pitcher Caitlin Eaton and tacked on five runs off five hits and one Tennessee
State (10-33, 4-16 OVC) error in the opening inning.
The Redhawks posted three more runs in the next frame to go
ahead, 8-0, before Olivia Gamache came in to pitch for Eaton. Gamache retired
three straight batters to get out of the inning without any more runs scoring.
In the third inning, a couple of singles and a double led to
SEMO scoring two more runs to make the score, 10-0.
The Tennessee State offense struggled the entire game and
the Tigers were never able to get going.
TSU finished the game with only three hits and one error
while Southeast Missouri tallied 12 hits and no errors.
Tedra Alford (1-of-2) Brittany Davis (1-of-1) and Ashley
Heinaman (1-of-1) each recorded hits for TSU while Kaitlin Wallace (3-of-3) led
SEMO with three hits and Renee Kertz (2-of-2) registered a team best three RBI.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, April 12 with a
single game at Jacksonville State. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
