Jacksonville, Ala. --- The Tennessee State University
softball team fell to Jacksonville State Tuesday night at University Field.
Tennessee State (10-34, 4-17 OVC) finished the game with two
hits and one error while Jacksonville State (28-10, 13-3 OVC) notched 12 hits
and did not commit an error in the contest.
Kelly Troglin
(1-of-2) recorded a hit in the outing while
Olivia Gamache
went 1-of-1 at the plate and registered her first career homerun.
The Tiger offense struggled with JSU pitcher Tiffany Harbin the
entire game. In the third inning, Kelly Troglin
singled to right field to give
TSU its first hit of the contest but she would be left stranded on base.
JSU got on the board early following a two-run homerun in
the first inning. The Gamecocks stretched their advantage to, 8-0, after
posting a couple of 3-spots in the third and fourth innings.
TSU finally scored in the top of the fifth when Olivia
Gamache hit a solo shot to left center.
In the bottom of the frame, JSU added another run to make
the final score, 9-1.
Kelly Troglin
(2-12) was charged with the loss while Tiffany
Harbin (17-5) earned the win for Jacksonville State. Harbin threw 12 strikeouts
in the victory.
TSU returns to action on Wednesday afternoon with a double
header at the University of Memphis.
