INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- Tennessee State lost a heartbreaker in four sets to the Raiders of Wright State. The Tigers lost their last match of the Butler Classic 3-1.

TSU seems to have finally found their rhythm after having some rough outings offensively in previous matches. Freshman Julia Pierson led the offensive attack with 14 kills. Katora Roberts and Payten Clark  had eight and nine kills respectively.

Senior Chloe Watson had her third double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs. Cherlie Adorno-DeJesus had a big day defensively with 14 digs while Taylor Patterson contributed 12.

In set one, the Tigers would start off slow going down by six points by a score 0f 11-5. The Tigers did not have an effective offense in the first set getting just 9 kills on 34 attempts. Wright State had a hitting percentage of .324. TSU would lose set one 25-16.

Pierson had a strong set two by having an outstanding hitting percentage of .429. Wright State's defense would slow the Tigers down registering five blocks and 13 digs. TSU went down 14-3 and fought hard to get back in the game, before eventually dropping set two 25-19.

The Tigers regrouped and took set three 25-23. Pierson would show the Raiders what she was made of in set three tallying seven kills. Roberts would contribute four kills  to help the Tigers advance to another set. With the score tied at 23 all Pierson would get a kill before Watson ended set three with a huge kill herself.

TSU would ride the set three wave into the fourth set, where they took a 10-5 lead. Attack errors by the Tigers would help the Raiders tie the game at 17. Clark and Watson would both register four kills in the set. However, a few costly errors would cost the Tigers the match. Wright State would win the fourth set 25-22.

Tennessee State will host the first home game of the season on Tues. Sept. 13 in Kean Hall at 11 a.m. CDT.
