The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will face Southeast Missouri for the second time in seven days when the teams match-up on Saturday, Jan. 9. Tip-off for the early afternoon contest is set for 1:00 p.m. in the Gentry Center.

Tennessee State is looking for its first win of the season on Saturday. The Lady Tigers are coming off an 80-39 loss to UT Martin at home on Thursday night. The setback moved TSU to 0-6, 0-4 OVC.Â

Taylor Roberts, who has missed the last three games, is leading the team in scoring with 17.7 ppg while
Andreana Wrister is turning in 14.3 ppg.

TSU suffered an 80-39 loss to UT Martin Thursday night in the Gentry Center. TSU got off to a slow start and fell behind early. The home team trailed 26-11 after the first 10 minutes of action and could not dig itself out of the hole. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by
Andreana Wrister's 10 points while
Jasmine Broner pulled down a team best seven rebounds. Wrister finished the game with a team-best three assists.Â

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Southeast Missouri is 2-1 in league play. The team's game at Belmont, scheduled for Thursday, was canceled due to COVID-19 protocols, so the Redhawks' last game was seven days ago against TSU. The defending OVC Champions were picked to finish the 2020-21 race in 3rd place.Â

LAST TIME THEY MET
TSU had a solid start but stumbled in the second quarter and fell behind by as many as 26 points against Southeast Missouri. TSU outscored SEMO 18-17 in the third quarter but continued fourth quarter struggles prevented a comeback.

Breannah McCullah led TSU with 11 points each while
Jaden Wrightsell had seven rebounds, nine points, four assists and four steals.Â

TSU will meet Southeast Missouri for the 53rd time in the series history with the Redhawks leading, 31-21. SEMO has won three straight, including a victory seven days ago. TSU's last win was a 62-59 victory on Feb. 2, 2019.Â
