WBB Hosts Chattanooga on Wednesday Evening

NASHVILLE — Coming off a sucsesful first week of the season, the Tennessee State women's basketball team hosts in-state foe Chattanooga on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. from the Gentry Center.

SERIES INFORMATION: TSU and fellow Volunteer state foe Chattanooga will face off for the first time since the 2002 season. The Mocs hold a 13-7 advantage and were initially scheduled to play last season, but was canceled due to Covid.   The first meeting came during the 1977-78 season with the Mocs winning the first six contests before TSU's first series win in 1992.

ADAMS AWARD: Rookie Gia Adams took home her first OVC weekly award, as she was named the OVC Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Adams scored in double figures in all three games this week and posted a double-double in the season-opener against Fisk with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Adams had 11 points in the win over Georgia State and 12 in the loss to Kansas. She averaged 13.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

HARDEN MY HEART: Elise Harden finished with seven rebounds and five points in the loss at Kansas last weekend. Harden set a season-best with those seven rebounds in 17 minutes.

FIRST WIN SINCE: TSU's win over Georgia State was the first D1 victory and first D1 win under head coach Ty Evans since a 67-64 win over Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 20, 2020.

DAVIS DELIVERS: Tatyana Davis finished with 18 points on 8-of-13 from the field to lead the Tigers to  a 70-67 win over Georgia State. Davis also finished with three assists, two rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes.

PARKER'S PARTY: Rookie Saniah Parker had quite the outing against the Panthers with 14 points in 25 minutes of the bench. Parker shot 5-of-11 from the field and knocked down a pair of triples. She also tallied five dimes and five steals.
