Women's Basketball Visits Omaha on Thursday

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State women's basketball team will conclude its three-game road swing at Omaha on Thursday afternoon at noon.

SERIES INFORMATION: TSU will face Omaha for the first-time in program history when they travel to face the Mavericks on Thursday afternoon.

UP NEXT: TSU will face Mercer for the seventh time in program history. This is the second game in consecutive seasons between the Lady Tigers and Bears. The first meeting was on November 26, 1990, a 73-70 win for Mercer in overtime. The Lady Tigers won the next four games which included nearly a 10-year gap between matchups.

Last season, the Bears won 81-61 at home. Andreana Wrister led the team with 17 points and Taylor Roberts had 15. For Mercer, two players scored 20+ points — Jaron Dougherty (25) and Amoria Neal-Tysor (23).

DAVIS LEADS WAY AT WKU: Tatyana Davis led the team with 18 points in a 77-65 loss at Western Kentucky. Davis leads the team in points with 15.8 per night. Davis is third on the squad shooting 45.1 percent from the field. The graduate student has scored in double figures in all but the Kansas contest when she had nine points.

ADAMS' PROGRESSION: Freshman Gia Adams has continued to improve as the season moves on. The Houston, Texas product just like Davis has netted double figures in all but one contest (Chattanooga). Adams has 15 points in 30 minutes in the loss to Western Kentucky. Adams is averaging 11.8 points this season with 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Adams has at least one rebound and assist in all six games.

CLAYTOR'S CREATION: In her last two games, Claytor has reached double figures with 15 points at North Alabama and 14 points at Western Kentucky. During the current road swing, she is at 14.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

NATIONALLY RANKED D: In his second season at the helm, Ty Evans has his Lady Tigers siting near the top of the NCAA leaderboard in steals, steals per game and forced turnovers. As of Dec. 1, the Lady Tigers are second in steals per game (15.7), sixth in total steals (94) and eighth in forced turnovers per game with 25.0.
