Women's Basketball Visits Murray State on Thursday

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State women's basketball team will take its six-game winning streak over the state border to visit Murray State on Thursday evening at 5 p.m.

MURRAY STATE SERIES INFORMATION: Murray State holds a 36-26 lead over Tennessee State heading into Thursday's contest. The Racers hold a 23-11 lead in games played at Murray State. Over the last 10 road games, TSU is 4-6 against Murray State.

SCOUTING THE RACERS: Murray State enters the contest with an impressive 10-4 mark with eight D1 victories on the season. The Racers defeated TSU common foe Chattanooga, North Alabama and Lipscomb during the non-league season. In OVC play, Murray State split back-to-back games with Tennessee Tech and romped SEMO in the opener. Katelyn Young leads the Racers and OVC in scoring at 20.8 points, rebounds at 8.4 per game and field goal percentage (65%). Macey Turley is second in scoring (14.8) and first in OVC 3-pointers made (32).

SEMO SERIES INFORMATION: SEMO leads the all-time series record 27-23 after falling to the Lady Tigers on Jan. 8, 83-64.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS: Southeast Missouri is 4-11 on the season and are sitting on a five-game losing streak. Roshala Scott leads the Redhawks with 11.3 points per game. Deanay Scott is second with 11.1 ppg and leads the squad in rebounds with 5.6 rebounds per game.

PARKER CLAIMS OVC FRESHMAN AWARD: Parker averaged 16.0 points to help Tennessee State improve to 4-0 in OVC play and extend its winning streak to six straight games. She had a season-high 18 points in the win over Southeast Missouri and also had 14 points in the victory over UT Martin. Parker shot 75 percent from the floor and 75 percent from beyond the arc last week. She also had 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

Through 15 games, Parker is averaging 8.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.9 assists. Parker is shooting 46 percent from the field and 72 percent from the line.
