WBB Visits SEMO on Thursday and Hosts Austin Peay on Saturday

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State women's basketball team returns to the court after a week off and will visit Southeast Missouri on Thursday before a home contest with in-state rival Austin Peay on Saturday. 

The Matchup: Tennessee State Lady Tigers (9-7, 4-1 OVC) at  Southeast Missouri (4-13, 0-6 OVC)

SEMO leads the all-time series record 27-23 after falling to the Lady Tigers on Jan. 8, 83-64.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS: Southeast Missouri is 4-13 on the season and are sitting on a five-game losing streak. Roshala Scott leads the Redhawks with 11.3 points per game. Deanay Scott is second with 11.1 ppg and leads the squad in rebounds with 5.6 rebounds per game.

AUSTIN PEAY SERIES INFORMATION: Austin Peay holds a 38-28 lead over the Lady Tigers in the all-time series. However, TSU holds a 17-15 edge in games played in Nashville. Austin Peay is on a seven-game winning streak over the Lady Tigers which began during the 2017 season. Prior to that, TSU won six-straight games from 2011-16.

SCOUTING THE GOVS: At 11-5, Austin Peay is one of the top women's basketball team in the area. The Govs sit one game behind TSU in the OVC standings with a 4-2 mark. AP has won its last two games before UT Martin postponed Thursday's contest. Yamina Johnson leads AP in scoring this season, averaging 16.7 points per game. Karle Pace is second on the squad in scoring at 14.2 per night. Johnson has scored in double figures in all 16 games this season.

DUO CLAIMS OVC WEEKLY AWARDS: Sierra McCullough and Gia Adams each took home weekly awards, as announced by the league on Monday. McCullough, the transfer from UNC Charlotte, McCullough nearly recorded a double-double with 11 points and eight boards in the game with Murray State. She shot 66.7 percent from the floor and went 3-for-4 from the line. McCullough also had two assist and two steals. The junior is averaging 4.3 points per game and set a season-high in the previous contest at Murray State.

Adams claimed her second freshman award and led Tennessee State with 22 points in the game with Murray State. She shot 50 percent from the floor, including hitting a trio of three-pointers. She also had one assist and one steal. Adams leads the Lady Tigers in scoring this season at 13.5 points and assists 2.6 per game.
