NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State University women's basketball team will have a quick turnaround from Monday night's win against Trevecca, as they are set to take on their second-in-state opponent of the week in the University of Chattanooga. This will be the first of three in-state road trips for the Tigers this season as they get ready to face the Mocs.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the 22
nd all-time meeting between the Tigers and the Mocs with UTC holding the all-time advantage of 14-7. Chattanooga has won the last five matchups, dating back to the 1999 season. The two squads matched up last November after not playing each other for the past 19 seasons. Prior to last year's matchup, the two schools had not met since January 24, 2002. TSU's last win over UTC came on November 18, 1998. UTC won the first six matchups from 1978-1991, followed by four straight TSU wins.
OFFENSIVE OUTPUT: In head coach
Ty Evans' first two seasons, his team crossed the 80-point plateau a total of five times. His team finished with 80+ points one time in his first season, and just four times last year. Through three games this season his team has crossed the 80-point threshold twice, as they posted 85 against Fisk and 84 against Trevecca. The Tigers are averaging just under 80 points per game with 79.7.
BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK: Gia Adams recorded her third straight 20+ point game on Monday night against Trevecca. The sophomore had her second 20-point performance in the win. Adams started the season with 20 points against Fisk in the opener, followed by a 27-point performance against Kansas City. She is currently averaging 22.3 ppg with a 42 percent clip.
GIVE ME THAT: The relentless defensive effort and ability to press and force turnovers was on display once against on Monday night as the Tigers had their third straight game of forcing 20+ turnovers. The Tigers forced 22 turnovers against the Trojans last night after forcing 40 against Fisk and 24 against UMKC. The Tigers' 86 forced turnovers are the third most in NCAA D1, while their 28.67 turnovers forced per game rank 9
th.
BRING IT DOWN: Three TSU players are averaging 6.0+ rebounds per game through the first three contests.
Saniah Parker and
Sierra McCullough lead the team with 7.7 rebounds per game, followed by
Lyric Cole (6.6 rpg). Parker and McCullough have both pulled down 23 boards while Cole has notched 19.
COLE CONNECTS: First-year Tiger
Lyric Cole set a new career high watermark for points in a game against Trevecca. The sophomore transfer from Austin Peay finished with a career-high 19 points, surpassing her old high of 16 points set last season, to go along with nine rebounds and two steals. Cole is shooting a remarkable 58.3 percent from the floor (14-of-24) and is averaging 11.0 ppg.
ONE AND WON: The Ohio Valley Conference announced the first Player of The Week recipients on Tuesday morning and sophomore guard
Gia Adams was named OVC Player of The Week for her performance against Fisk and Kansas City. The All-OVC preseason selection averaged 23.5 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, 2.0 steals per game, and shot 42 percent from the floor in two games against Fisk and UMKC. Adams finished with 20 points and four assists in the opener against Fisk. She scored 27 points in Friday's game at UMKC and finished with four steals and three helpers.
