Women's Basketball Returns Home to Face Omaha on Sunday

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State University women's basketball team returns to the Gentry Center for two straight home games after being on the road for their last two contests. The Lady Tigers will host Omaha tomorrow afternoon as they look to get back in the win column, after going 0-2 on their road trip. Both of TSU's wins this season have come inside the Gentry Center.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will just be the second-ever contest between TSU and Omaha. The two teams matched up for the first time in Omaha just under a year ago, with the Mavericks picking up the first-ever victory in the series. Gia Adams finished with 17 points in the loss, while Saniah Parker tallied five points. Kianni Westbrook pulled down six boards and finished with four points.
 
SCOUTING OMAHA: Omaha will be leaving the state of Nebraska for the first time this season as they travel to TSU. The Mavericks opened the season on the road at Nebraska and lost 100-36, followed by three straight wins over Wichita State, Weber State, and Peru State. Omaha dropped their last game to Creighton 93-71. The Mavericks are averaging 72.2 points per game while allowing 78.6. They turn the ball over 13.0 times per game while forcing 17.2. Omaha is led by Elena Pilakouta (15.6 ppg), Aaliyah Stanley (10.2 ppg), and Grace Cave (10.0 ppg).
 
THE FORCE CONTINUES: TSU had their 4th game of forcing 20+ turnovers in the loss to Butler. The Lady Tigers forced 22 Bulldog turnovers, matching the number of turnovers they forced against Trevecca. TSU forced 40 in the opener against Fisk and 24 against Kansas City. TSU's 24.6 turnovers forced per game leads the OVC.
 
HOME MALONE: Transfer guard and Nashville native Ashley Malone scored a season-high 10 points against Butler on Monday night. The junior has been one of the top scorers off the bench with 5.2 points per game as she is back home playing in the city she went to high school in. Malone played a season-high 16 minutes in the loss to Butler and pulled down two boards.
 
LEAGUE LEADERS: The Lady Tigers currently have three different players that sit on top of OVC individual statistical categories. Gia Adams leads the OVC in points per game with 17.8 and in total points with 89. Sierra McCullough leads the league in total rebounds (44) and rebounds per game (8.8), while Lyric Cole leads the OVC in FG percentage (.58.1 percent).
