BRASELTON, Ga. – The Tennessee State University men's golf team finished in 3
rd place in the 37
th Annual HBCU Golf Invitational after shooting a three-day total of 888 at the Chateau Elan Golf Club. TSU was led by senior
Mikus Ming who finished tied for 1
st place. The senior shot a 213 (67, 74, 72) and led the field with a low score of 67 in round one.
The Tigers played 54 holes on Monday, as they fired a 289 in round one, followed by a 301 in round two. TSU shot a 298 in round three on Tuesday morning to finish in third place.
TSU had two players finish within the top 10 with Ming and Jared Southerland. Southerland finished tied for eighth after tallying a 223 (72, 76, 75).
Sebert Walker had a three-day total of 229 to finish tied for 20
th, while Isaac Napier finished in 23
rd place after firing a 230. Carter Walton rounded out the Tiger lineup after shooting a 231 to finish tied for 24
th.
TSU led the tournament with two eagles, from Walker and Southerland. Ming finished second in the field with 38 pars, while also finishing tied for fourth with eight birdies. Ming finished -2 in par three scoring opportunities.
The Tigers will be back in action on October 31
and November 1, when they compete in the Zaxby's Invitational, hosted by Alabama A&M.
