Women's Basketball Eyes Third Straight OVC Win on Saturday Afternoon at TTU

NASHVILLE — Looking for their third straight Ohio Valley Conference win and second OVC road win, the Tennessee State women's basketball team will travel to Cookeville to face one of the league's top teams in Tennessee Tech.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the 77th all-time meeting between the TTU and TSU. The Golden Eagles lead the series 62-14 as the Lady Tigers have not fared well against them in the past. TSU has only won two of the last 10 matchups, with one of those wins coming last season at home. Gia Adams finished with 23 points in the 96-93 win.   

SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH: TTU enters tomorrow's contest as the third-best team in the OVC with just one loss in the OVC. Their only OVC loss was to 5-0 Eastern Illinois on January 5th. TTU has taken down SIUE, Lindenwood, UT Martin, and Morehead in OVC play. They are averaging 67.4 points per game and shooting 42.6 percent from the floor. The team is shooting 32.6 percent from deep. Maaliya Owens leads the squad with 12.9 ppg, while Reghan Grimes leads the team in rebounds with 6.1 per outing.
 
WESTBROOK'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Kianni Westbrook recorded the second TSU double-double of the season last night as she finished with 13 points and a season-high 10 bords. Westbrook has started the last six games and has scored in double figures in three of those games. She is averaging 8.8 ppg and 7.8 rpg in OVC play. Lyric Cole recorded the first double-double of the season against Lipscomb.  
 
THREE BALL: Saniah Parker matched her season-high with three three-pointers last night as he finished 3-of-6 from deep. The sophomore knocked down three wide-open shots as she finished with 15 points in the win against UTM.
 
OFF THE BENCH: Senior forward Sierra McCullough had a strong return off the bench last night after missing the past five games. The second-year Tiger finished with eight points and seven boards in 22 minutes of action.
 
FIVE IN A ROW: Erica Haynes-Overton logged her fifth game in a row of scoring in double figures as she finished with 16 points last night. She has now scored in double figures 11 times this season, which includes two 30+ point outings.
