Harry and Housworth Take Home OVC Weekly Honors

NASHVILLE – For the second week in a row, the Tennessee State women's track and field team took home three Ohio Valley Conference weekly awards after having a solid showing in the KSU HBCU Classic this past Monday.
 
True freshman Serenity Harry earned the OVC's Track Athlete of the Week and the Female Freshman of the Week, while Elaina Housworth earned her second Female Field Athlete of the Week award.
 
Harry recorded two first-place finishes on Monday afternoon as she took first in the 60m dash with a time of 7.63, followed by a first-place finish in the 200m dash after clocking a 24.91. Her 60-meter mark ranks third in the OVC this year while her 200-meter time leads the league.
 
Housworth continued her great start to the season as she also left the KSU HBCU Indoor Classic with two first-place finishes. The Georgia native won the long jump with a distance of 5.62m, followed by a first-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 12.12m. Housworth leads the OVC in the longest jump in both events.
 
The Tigerbelles will be back in action as they are set to compete in the Vanderbilt Invite, hosted by Vanderbilt this Friday and Saturday.
