Women's Tennis Edged 4-3 by Alabama A&M on Sunday Afternoon

Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Tennessee State women's tennis team showed lots of improvement on Sunday afternoon as they took on Alabama A&M in their second match of the season. The Bulldogs just edged the Tigers 4-3 to claim the win.
 
The Lady Tigers started the day out strong, as they took the doubles point to go up 1-0 heading into singles play. The doubles duo of Warona Mdlulwa/Daniela Koleva picked up a 7-6 win in the No. 1 doubles over Boyd/Dhamija. The No. 3 doubles team of Jovana Nikolic/Aroa Arrieta Castillo also earned a 7-6 win over Ghare/Owegi.
 
In singles play, Naomi Von Bose was able to earn a win in No. 2 singles, while Jovana Nikolic earned a victory in the No. 3 singles. Von Bose defeated Brown 7-5, 6-4. Nikolic was able to storm back after dropping the first set and won 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.
 
Mdlulwa put up a fight in the No. 1 singles as she went three sets. She was edged by Boyd 6-7, 6-4, 3-6. Franka Sindicic also showed lots of fight, as she too had a three-set match in the No. 5 singles. Sindicic fell 3-6, 6-2, 3-6.
 
The Tigers will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday as they are set to play doubleheaders against Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Saturday's DH against Ole Miss will be played at 12:00 p.m. // 4:00 p.m., while Sunday's DH against MSU is slated for 10:00 a.m. // 2:00 p.m.
