Women's Tennis Battles with Mississippi State in Road Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Tennessee State women's tennis team took on Mississippi State in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon and dropped both matches inside the Bulldog's indoor tennis facility.
 
MSU 7, TSU 0
 
The Tigers were unable to get a score on the board in doubles play as TSU fell 6-0, 6,-0 to let the Bulldogs claim the doubles point to lead 1-0.
 
TSU showed a strong fight in singles play as every Tiger got at least one point on the board, with Aroa Castillo winning a set in the No. 4 singles. Castillo would fall 3-6, 6-1, 1-0. Daniela Koleva had a strong showing in No. 6 singles as she was edged 6-1, 6-3.
Naomi Von Bose put up a fight in No. 2 singles as she dropped her match 6-2, 6-3.  
 
MSU 7, TSU 0
 
TSU had a better showing to start doubles play in the afternoon match, as they still lost the point 1-0 to MSU. Warona Mdlulwa / Daniela Koleva fell 6-2, while Von Bose / Jovana Nikolic were having a strong showing in No. 2 doubles at 5-3 before their match went unfished to TSU falling 6-0 in the No. 3 singles first.
 
Mdlulwa won her first set in the No. 1 singles 6-3, before dropping the next two 6-1, 1-0. Castillo, Nikolic, and Koleva would all drop their matches 6-2, 6-0, as MSU won all six singles, matches to cruise to the 7-0 win.
 
NEXT UP
 
TSU will be back in action next Sunday as they are set to host Troy. The match is slated to be played at the Vanderbilt indoor tennis courts and start at 9:00 a.m.
