Women's Basketball to Close Out Midwest Road Swing against EIU on Saturday

NASHVILLE — Fresh off a fourth-quarter comeback win a night ago, the Tennessee State women's basketball team will close out their two-game road trip to the Midwest as they are set to take on Eastern Illinois tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

The Matchup: Tennessee State (8-13, 4-7 OVC) vs. Eastern Illinois (18-3, 11-0 OVC)

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the 51st matchup between TSU and EIU. EIU took down the Lady Tigers back in January as they pulled away with a 63-58 win. The Lady Tigers last took down EIU in the first round of the 2022 OVC tournament. TSU is 1-6 against EIU in their last seven matchups.

SCOUTING EIU: The Panthers continue to pace the OVC as they sit atop the standings with an 11-0 mark in OVC play. EIU has done a nice job defensively as they only score 69.9 ppg but give up just 61.8 points per game. Lariah Washington (18.5 ppg) and Macy McGlone (11.8 ppg) lead the team in scoring. McGlone leads the team in rebounding with 7.5 per outing.
 
DOUBLE DIGIT SCORING HITS DOUBLE: Erica Haynes-Overton finished with 15 points against Souther Indiana to push her double-digit scoring streak to 10 games in a row, all of which are OVC games. EHO is averaging 16.9 ppg in that span.
 
100 POINT CLUB GROWS: Kianni Westbrook finished with 11 points last night, bringing her season-scoring total to 103 points. Westbrook now joins Erica Haynes-Overton, Gia, Adams, Saniah Parker, Ashley Malone, and Lyric Cole all have scored 100+ points this season. True freshman Zyion Shannon is just one point shy of the century mark.
 
EVANS GETS 20: Last night's win against USI marked head coach Ty Evans's 20th career victory.
 
ADAMS RETURNS: Gia Adams returned to the starting lineup last night after missing the past three games with an ankle sprain. The sophomore guard logged 33 minutes in her return and finished with 10 points, four rebounds and two steals.
 
SUAREZ-TUDELA STARTS: Head coach Ty Evans mixed in a new face to the starting lineup last night, as Corina Suarez-Tudela got her second start of the season. The transfer guard matched her season high in minutes with 15, while finishing with six points.
