DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Tennessee State women's tennis team picked up their first win of the spring season on Sunday afternoon as they played two matches in Florida. The Tigers took down Bethune-Cookman 7-0 to pick up their first victory of the season, before falling to Western Michigan 4-0.
TSU 7, BCU 0
TSU started off their first match of the day on a strong note, as they won 2-of-3 doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead heading into singles play. The Tigers took that momentum into singles play and ran away, winning at all six lines to claim the 7-0 win.
Naomi Von Bose earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at line one, while
Warona Mdlulwa claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 spot.
Mikalia Coleman had no problem at line three, earning a 6-0, 6-2 win.
Taylor Ellis's won in three sets 6-1, 5-7, 12-10 at line four, while
Kennedy Holloway notched a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at line five.
Franka Sindicic won by default at line six due to Bethune only having five players.
WMU 4, TSU 0
The second match of the afternoon did not go TSU's way as they fell 4-0 to the Western Michigan Broncos.
WMU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after claiming two doubles wins at lines one and three. Von Bose / Mdlulwa dropped their match 6-3, while

Aroa Arrieta Castillo lost 6-2.
The Broncos continued their strong play in the singles portion of the match, claiming wins at lines three, five, and six. Koleva fell 6-1, 6-0 at line three, while Arrieta Castillo dropped her match in the No. 5 slot 6-0, 6-1. Sindicic fell 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 6 position.
The Tigers will take on Seaton Hall tomorrow.
