SHOAL CREEK, Ala. – The Tennessee State men's golf team played 18 holes on Monday as they competed in the first round of The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship. TSU finished day one tied for 6
th with a 309.
Sebert Walker led the Tigers in round one as he carded a 73 on the afternoon.
Allen Stokes (78) and
Carter Walton (78) are tied for 26
th.
Jared Southerland tallied an 80 to finish tied for 34
th.
Isaac Napier finished one stroke back with an 81, which has him tied for 41
st.
Stokes, Walker, and Napier all finished with 10 pars a piece, while Walker led the team with three birdies. Stokes tallied an eagle for TSU.
The Tigers will continue play with round two tomorrow.
Fans can watch the event on the Golf Channel Monday-Wednesday as the event will be aired from 3:30-6:30 p.m. each day.
The event is the most culturally significant championship in collegiate golf, as it annually hosts student-athletes enrolled in Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and other Minority-Serving Educational Institutions. 204 students from 68 schools competed in 2022.
