NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State men's golf team wrapped up the Big Blue Intercollegiate with a 10th-place finish amid wet and rainy conditions on Tuesday afternoon at the Hermitage Golf Club. The Tigers, serving as hosts for the annual event, concluded with a team score of 895 (295, 298, 302).
Belmont and Samford shared the top spot in the 13-team event, both posting a score of 846. However, the tiebreak favored Belmont, whose top low-round scorer secured the advantage this afternoon.
Jared Southerland led TSU, finishing 29th after carding a total of 218 over three rounds. The second-year Tiger delivered rounds of 70, 75, and 73. True freshman Spencer McCranie ended tied for 40th with a score of 223, showcasing consistent rounds of 74, 74, and 75.
Isaac Napier posted a score of 226 (75, 74, 77), placing him tied for 51st. Freshman Bo Twerdahl, paired with his brother Jackson from UT Martin, secured 68th place with a score of 231 (78, 75, 78). Carter Walton trailed Twerdahl by two strokes, finishing with a score of 233 (76, 80, 77).
Competing as an individual, Adam Khan rounded out TSU's lineup, securing 80th place with a score of 258. The first-year Tiger showed improvement in his final two rounds after opening with scores of 91, 84, and 83.
TSU will now shift its focus to the OVC Tournament, set to take place at the Fighting Joe Golf Course in Muscle Shoals, Ala., from April 21-24.
