NASHVILLE - The Tennessee State University men's and women's tennis programs have earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors for their academic achievements in the 2023-24 academic year. Additionally, numerous individual players from both squads were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is presented to programs that have a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
Head tennis coach Todd Smith saw seven men's players earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. Christopher Bogelin, Daniel Caraballo, Diego Britt-Alvarez, Jonasz Dziopak, Nil Moinet, Rohan Loubser, and Taj Hibbert.
The TSU women boasted nine ITA Scholar-Athletes including Aroa Arrieta Castillo, Claudia Murdasanu, Daniela Koleva, Francisca Gomez-Weiss, Franka Sindicic, Jovana Nikolic, Louise Ratiu, Natalie Walsh, and Perri Howard.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
