NASHVILLE – Tennessee State women's basketball returns to the Gentry Center on Thursday, December 11, hosting Chattanooga at 6 p.m. The Lady Tigers look to regroup and build on their growing core after a competitive road battle at Lipscomb that featured improved rebounding, interior scoring, and productive stretches from multiple rotation pieces.
TSU (1–7) continues to navigate one of the toughest nonconference slates in the region, but the group has shown clear development across the first eight games. The Lady Tigers have strengthened their interior presence, increased bench production, and seen consistent guard play from their leading scorers as they work toward a full 40-minute performance.
Aaniya Webb leads TSU with 13.9 points per game and added 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals at Lipscomb while logging a team-high 35 minutes. Behind her, a balanced group continues to emerge, including the inside-out combination of Erin Martin (6.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg), Somah Kamara (9.9 ppg, team-high 11 steals), and rebounding standout Kiki Roberts, who enters Thursday averaging 8.1 boards per game after grabbing 10 against the Bisons.
TSU's frontcourt depth also continues to trend upward. Martin delivered 12 points and 6 rebounds at Lipscomb, while Brianna Wooldridge added 9 points and 7 boards. Off the bench, Montoya, Young, and Ferguson all contributed key minutes as the Tigers' reserves combined for 24 points in the game.
Chattanooga enters the matchup looking to maintain its early-season momentum under first-year head coach Kim Caldwell, bringing a fast-paced offensive approach and disciplined perimeter attack. Thursday's contest renews regional familiarity between the programs as TSU aims to defend its home court and continue sharpening its identity.
