Women’s Basketball Welcomes SEMO for Conference Clash

12/19/2025 9:32:00 AM

NASHVILLE — Tennessee State women's basketball returns home to continue Ohio Valley Conference action on Saturday, December 20, hosting Southeast Missouri (SEMO) at 1 p.m. inside the Gentry Center. The Lady Tigers look to build on recent progress as they seek a key league victory on their home floor.

TSU (1–9, 0–1 OVC) has battled through one of the toughest early-season slates in the region, showing meaningful growth in scoring balance, defensive activity, and rebounding. Led by senior scoring leader Aaniya Webb and anchored by a physical frontcourt, the Lady Tigers aim to establish consistency on both ends of the floor and continue trending upward as conference play develops.

On the season, Webb is averaging a team-best 13.1 points per game while connecting on a team-high 15 made three-pointers. Somah Kamara has been a force on both sides of the ball, contributing 9.2 points per game while leading the Lady Tigers in steals and ranking among the team leaders in assists. Inside, Erin Martin and Kiki Roberts have anchored the paint, combining for a strong rebounding presence and consistent interior scoring opportunities. TSU as a team is averaging 59.3 points and 35.8 rebounds per game while continuing to apply pressure defensively.

Saturday's matchup against SEMO will mark the 40th all-time meeting between the programs. Southeast Missouri holds a 25–15 advantage in the series, with a significant scoring margin over the years. The Redhawks have averaged 67.7 points compared to TSU's 60.6 points historically in the series, but recent contests have shown the Lady Tigers narrowing that gap as they compete more consistently at the league level.

With the Gentry Center crowd behind them, TSU looks to defend home court and pick up its first OVC win of the season.
