NASHVILLE — Tennessee State senior guard Aaron Nkrumah was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, after leading the Tigers to a pair of victories with dominant all-around performances.
Nkrumah averaged 27.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game while shooting an efficient 58.8 percent (20-of-34) from the field, including 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from three-point range.
The 6-foot-6 senior from Worcester, Mass., turned in a career-high 30 points in TSU's 105-100 overtime win over Morehead State, adding seven rebounds and five assists. He scored the Tigers' first five points of overtime and finished the contest 12-of-20 from the floor to help secure the victory.
Two days later, Nkrumah recorded a double-double with 24 points and a season-best 11 rebounds, shooting 8-of-14 from the field to pace Tennessee State to another win.
On the season, Nkrumah ranks first in the OVC and fourth nationally in steals (2.9 per game), second in the league in scoring (16.8 points per game) and sixth in field goal percentage (42.9%).
The honor marks the third OVC Player of the Week award of the season for Nkrumah.
