NASHVILLE— Tennessee State guard Travis Harper II earned Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week recognition after helping lead the Tigers to a pair of road victories and a 3-1 start in league play with a dominant all-around performance last week.

A 6-foot-6 redshirt senior from Columbus, Ga., Harper averaged 25.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting an efficient 55.2 percent (16-of-29) from the field. He was especially lethal from beyond the arc, connecting on 57.1 percent (12-of-21) of his 3-point attempts, and was perfect at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6.

Harper opened the week with a historic shooting performance in an 88-76 road win at Tennessee Tech, tying the Tennessee State single-game record — and finishing one shy of the OVC mark — with nine 3-pointers. He knocked down 9-of-14 attempts from long range to score a game-high 29 points. The nine made 3-pointers are tied for the 10th-most in a Division I game this season.

He followed that outing with another strong performance at Little Rock, scoring 21 points while adding eight rebounds, three steals and a block to help TSU secure an 84-79 road victory.

Through the opening stretch of conference play, Harper leads the OVC in scoring at 17.1 points per game, continuing to pace the Tigers on both ends of the floor.
