Atlanta, Ga. --- The Tennessee State University softball team went 2-0 on day one of the Panther Invitational; 6-5 over the University of Dayton and 3-0 to host Georgia State.
With the wins, Tennessee State moves to 4-0 on the season.
Trailing Tennessee State 0-6, the University of Dayton rallied from behind to score five runs on five hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Tigers, however, held on to get the 6-5 win.
TSU scored the first run of the game against Georgia State in the third inning following a double by Tamara Perkins and a single up the middle from Jill Gardner. The Tigers then posted two runs on two hits and one error in the fifth inning. Amanda Vaught pitched a shut-out to pick up her third win of the season.
Tennessee State returns to Panther Invitational action tomorrow.
