Gamecocks Win Series Finale 14-1

Jacksonville, Ala.--- Jacksonville State recorded 13 hits and four homeruns in a 14-1 win over Tennessee State Sunday afternoon at University Field.

 

Tennessee State  falls to 10-21 (4-7 OVC) while Jacksonville State improves to 20-8 (9-1 OVC).

 

TSU struck first, capturing a 1-0 lead in the first but JSU would score the next 14 runs of the game in route to the five inning win.

 

Lauren Weber was tagged with the loss after giving up eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits in just two-thirds of an inning. Amanda Vaught pitched an inning and one-third and allowed three runs on four hits, while Caitlin Eaton surrendered the other two runs of four hits over the final two innings.

JSU pitching held TSU to only six hits in the mercy-rule win.


Bridget Metzger and Tamara Perkins each went 2-for-3 to lead the Tigers at the plate, while Royesha Goodman was 1-for-2 with the team's lone RBI on a single in the first that scored Metzger from second.

 

Tennessee State will next host Memphis in a double header on Wednesday, April 2, at Tiger Field. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
