Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigers
picked up their third straight win defeating LeMoyne-Owen inside the Gentry
Center this afternoon, 84-48.
The Tigers led by as much as 44 points while the final score
gives them their largest margin of victory since 1997 when they beat Fisk,
97-52.
TSU (4-6) shot 42 percent from the floor, 89 percent from
the line, while leading the rebounding effort over the Magicians, 47-31.
Everyone on the active roster scored with five players recording
double figures. Patrick Miller hit 10-of-12 from the free-throw line finishing
with game-highs, 14 points and five assists.
Kenny Moore (4-of-5), Robert Covington (5-of-12), and
Jacquan Nobles (4-of-7) scored 13 points each. Moore posted his second
double-double of the season with a game-high 12 boards to go along with three
blocks and four assists.
Nobles racked up most of his points from long range draining
3-of-4 from behind the arc. Wil Peters tacked on 10 points from 3-of-5 shooting
from the field to compliment four assists.
The Tigers hexed the Magicians from the opening tip holding
them scoreless until the 12:27 mark for a score of 27-2. TSU outscored LOC into the break, 28-20,
to lead 55-22 at halftime.The Tigers held their largest lead of the night, 77-33, in
the second half and managed a huge lead for the entire game.
The Magicians (1-5) shot 31 percent overall while committing
23 turnovers. Calvin Stoudemire posted the team-high, 11 points, hitting 5-f-6
from the line. Jeremy Wilson posted a team best, nine boards. Brandon Hopson
and Kenyale Evans each added nine points.
TSU will resume Ohio Valley Conference play when they host
Morehead State on Sunday, Dec. 19, at the Gentry Center. Tip-off is slated for
5 p.m. on Faith and Family Night.
