WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Tennessee State University men's track and field team had a strong start to their 2022-23 indoor track and field season, as the Flying Tigers had 23 top-five finishers and one event winner at the Edmonds-Wilt Invitational.
Kenyon Johnson was the lone event winner for TSU as he had a jump of 15.45 to take home first place in the triple jump.
TSU had four runners collect top-five finishes in the 200-meter run as
Morgan Jones led the way with a 23.01 to finish in second place. Thurman McMullen came in third with a 23.33, followed by
John Davis (23.51) and
Nigel Simon Jr (23.58).
Jones also earned a second-place finish in the 400-meter run after clocking a 50.38.
Quest Agee notched a fourth-place finish with a 51.17, followed by
Nigel Simon Jr. who came in fifth with a 52.25.
Thaddee Barge notched a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a 1:57.89, followed by
Robert Hooper (4
th, 2:00.97), and Nicholas Smith (5
th, 2:01.25.).
Hooper earned a fourth-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:34.95.
Zavante Chichester took home second in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.20, followed by Thurman McMullen who notched a fourth-place finish with an 8.45.
The TSU "A" relay team of
Morgan Jones,
Thaddee Barge, Nicholas Smith, and
Quest Agee came in second place in the 4x400 relay with a 3:23.54.
Jon'Terio Horton earned a second-place finish in the high jump with a nice jump of 1.90m.
Anthony Ward had a nice leap of 6.99m to take home third in the long jump, while
Keandric Verge earned a fifth-place finish after leaping 6.84. Verge would take home fourth in the triple jump, while Ward finished in fifth.
TSU will be back in action after the Christmas Break when they host the Ed Temple Classic on January 7.
