BIRMINGHAM — The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles competed at the Samford Bulldogs Open Invitational over the weekend.
The Tigerbelles excelled in the field events at the open invitational with a top performance by Maleah DeCuir in the weight thrown event.
DeCuir placed eighth in the weight throw with a distance of 15.77m. She then threw the shot put 12.05m for a 16th place finish.
Antania Swain placed 10th in the weight throw (15.27m)
In the triple jump,
Alayna Darrett place 11th with a distance of 11.29. Darrett then placed 14th in high jump in 1.48m.
Emani Johnson cruised in a 5.33m for 15th place In the long jump.
Adriana Snow placed 24th in long jump at 5.09m.
Janiyah Townsend finished 14th in the semifinals of the 60m dash in 7.80. Townsend then placed 30th in the 200m dash in 25.83.
Zora Boddie finished 33rd in the 200m in 25.98 and
Reyna Sawyer placed 40th in 26.22.
Sawyer qualified for the finals of the 400m dash and placed 14th in 58.58.
The Tigerbelles will now prepare for the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championships returning to Birmingham Feb. 23-24.
