MURRAY, KY. — The Tennessee State University Tigerbelle track and field team finished sixth in the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships.
The Tigerbelles finished with 46 points in the overall team score. Host Murray State won the women's team championship with 199 points followed by SEMO in second with 156.5 points, Belmont in third with 150.5, EIU in fourth with 102.5 points and Austin Peay in fifth with 98 points. Behind TSU was Tennessee Tech in seventh with 36 points, SIUE in eighth with 24 points, UT Martin in ninth with 3 points and Morehead State in last with two points.
Elaina Housworth was the lone Tigerbelle to reach the top of the podium with a win in the triple jump clearing 12.50m on her third attempt.
In the long jump,
Emani Johnson finished fourth (5.65m) and Housworth was fifth (5.60m).
Zora Boddie was the second Tigerbelle to reach the podium with a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.38 (eight points). Johnson was fifth in the race in 1;02.91 (four points).
Jayda Howard-Drake finished fourth in the 100m hurdle finals in 14.05 (five points).
Natalya Bryant and
Alayna Darrett finished sxith and seventh in the heptathlon.
Sanura Branigan finished seventh in the 100m finals in 12.09 (two points).
TSU finished seventh in the 4x400m relay in 3:51.82.
