Track and Field's McMullen Named OVC Male Freshman Track and Field Athlete of the Week

NASHVILLE – Putting together two solid performances in the 55-meter hurdles and the 60-meter hurdles in his first two meets of his career, Tennessee State freshman track and field athlete Thurman McMullen was named the Ohio Valley Conference Male Freshman Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
 
The true freshman from Florida first competed for the Tigers on December 10, 2022, in the Edmonds-Wilt Invitational, hosted by Purdue. McMullen recorded a fourth-place finish after clocking an 8.45 in his first collegiate race in the 60-meter hurdles out of seven participants.
 
McMullen notched a first-place this finish in the 55-meter hurdles this past Saturday in the Ed Temple Classic. He recorded a time of 7.81 in the event out of five runners to take home first.
 
In addition to competing well in the hurdle events, McMullen also recorded a third-place finish in the 200m dash in the Edmonds-Wilt Invite. He clocked a 23.33 to finish third out of 10 runners.
 
The Tigers will be back in action on Martin Luther King Day as they are set to head to Louisville, Ky., to compete in the Louisville Urban KSU HBCU Indoor Classic, hosted by Kentucky State.
