ATLANTA, Ga. – The Tennessee State men's and women's track and field teams turned in a strong showing this weekend, highlighted by four event victories and several podium finishes against deep competition.
On the men's side, Devin Jones led the way with a first-place finish in the 800 meters, clocking 1:52.42 in a field of 24 competitors. Robert Hooper added another win in the 1500 meters (4:07.64), while Kylen Thorps dominated the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 54.06.
In the field, Preston Fuller secured a victory in the pole vault, clearing 4.14 meters to top the competition.
The Tigers also impressed in relay action, as the men's 4x400-meter relay team placed second overall, while the 4x100 relay earned a third-place finish.
In the jumps, Dont'e Barnes recorded a third-place finish in the triple jump, while Gabriel Deng added a fourth-place effort in the same event.
On the women's side, Olivia Allison highlighted the field performances with a third-place finish in the triple jump. Serenity Harry turned in a strong sprint performance, placing fifth in the 100 meters against a 39-athlete field.
The women's sprint medley relay team also reached the podium, finishing third overall.
Overall, Tennessee State combined for multiple top-five finishes across both track and field events, continuing to build momentum early in the outdoor season.
