The Tennessee State University Tiger went 4-0 this past weekend in the River City Classic. Today, two players were honored by the Ohio Valley Conference. Freshmen catcher
Onnika Spencer was named Co-Player of the Week, and sophomore pitcher
Caitlyn Manus earned Pitcher of the Week. The two are the first TSU players to receive the weekly conference honors in Head Coach
Genee McRath's tenure at TSU,
"To start the season 4-0 was great, but to have two players getting this honor is the icing on the cake," said McRath. "The team played hard, and it paid off. We hope that it is more to come."
Both players hail from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Spencer batted .286 for the weekend. In the 12-2 victory over Alcorn State, she went 3 for 4 with a grand slam and a double. She finished the game with eight RBIs. Manus went 3-0 on the mound, completing two games. She finished the weekend with a 1.86 ERA.
