BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Tennessee State men's basketball transfer guard
Jr. Clay was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
Clay picked up his second OVC Player of the Week award in the last three weeks as he led the league with 19.5 points per game, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in wins over SEMO and Tennessee Tech.
The graduate student shot 39 percent from the field and 79 percent from the line. Clay had 23 points against SEMO with eight rebounds and five assists. He had 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists on Saturday against TTU.
Clay's 23-point performance against SEMO marked his 11th 20+ point scoring game of the season. The Chattanooga native is averaging 18.7 points per outing, which is the second-best in the OVC, with 5.2 assists per game.
The Tigers will be back in action on Thursday night as they are set to travel to Morehead State for a nationally televised game on ESPNU. Tip-off is slated for 9:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. CT.
