NASHVILLE – Tennessee State men's track and field athlete Thurman McMullen took home two Ohio Valley Conference weekly for his performance at the James Madison University invite this past weekend.
 
The league announced on Wednesday afternoon that McMullen was named Male Track Athlete of the Week and Male Freshman of the Week. This marks McMullen's second Freshman of the Week award this outdoor season and his first Track Athlete of the Week Award.
 
McMullen finished in first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.24, which is the fastest mark in the OVC this season. The true freshman from Miami, Fla., followed that up with a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a 54.77.
 
He was also a part of two relay teams that took home first, as the 4x100 team ran a 41.94, while the 4x400 team clocked a 3:19.82.
 
The Flying Tigers will be back in action on April 28-29, as they are set to run in the Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt.
