ATHENS, Ga. – The Tennessee State women's track and field team recently competed in a thrilling two-day meet against tough competition at the University of Georgia over the course of the past two days. The team showcased their exceptional talent and determination, putting on an impressive performance in various events.
Starting with running events,
Serenity Harry finished 9
th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.01. Her teammates,
Miracle Johnson, and
Catherine Forbes, also freshmen, finished 10th and 11th, respectively, with times of 12.09 and 12.11 seconds.
In the Women's 200 Meters, Harry continued her strong performance, finishing 12th with a time of 24.40.
Sanura Branigan, a sophomore, had a strong performance in the 400m dash, finishing 6th with a time of 56.69 seconds.
In the Women's 100 Hurdles,
Natalya Bryant finished 4th with a time of 14.93 seconds and a wind reading of 1.2.
Alayna Darrett finished 5th with a time of 15.67 seconds, while
Bailey Smith, a junior, finished 6th with a time of 16.90 seconds.
Lastly, in the Women's 4 x 100 Relay, the Tennessee State team, consisting of
Giah Thomas,
Serenity Harry,
Miracle Johnson, and
Janiyah Townsend, finished 4th with an impressive time of 46.12.
Elaina Housworth secured 8th place in the long jump with a distance of 5.58m, and 4th place in the triple jump with a jump of 12.12m.
Maleah Decuir earned 3rd place in the shot put with a throw of 12.90m, while
Leilany Laureano secured 3rd place in the discus with a throw of 43.05m.
Bryant achieved 5th place in the javelin with a throw of 17.56m.
The Tigerbelles will be back in action next Friday and Saturday as they are set to compete at James Madison University.
