EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Competing in the Ohio Valley Conference Championships over the course of the past three days, the Tennessee State Tigerbelles came in 6
th place out of 10 teams with 50 total points.

TSU earned two medals in the three-day event as
Elaina Housworth paced the Tigers with a 1
st place in the triple jump with a leap of 12.65m to earn 10 points. The 4 x 100 relay team of
Giah Thomas,
Miracle Johnson,
Janiyah Townsend, and
Sanura Branigan clocked a 45.94 to come in 3
rd place while earning TSU six points.

Starting with the heptathlon,
Natalya Bryant took home 5
th place to give TSU four points. She came in 2
nd in the 200m and 800m in the heptathlon event.

Moving on to the field events, Housworth claimed a 4
th place finish in the long jump with a 5.78m jump to give TSU five more points. Behind Housworth in the triple jump was
Catherine Forbes who placed 5
th with an 11.63m leap to put four points on the board.

Leilany Laureano placed seventh in the shot put with a 12.68m throw to gain two points while she finished in 8
th in the discus throw with a toss of 40.32m to earn a point.

Moving onto the running events, TSU earned five points in the 100m dash as Johnson placed fifth after clocking a 12.14 to earn four points followed by
Serenity Harry who came in 8
th to earn one point. Branigan logged a sixth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 24.88 to get three points, while placing 4
th in the 400m with a 55.57 to get five points.

The 4 x 400 relay team of Thomas,
Sydney McGee, Johnson, and Branigan came in 6
th with a 3:56 to earn three points.

TSU will now send Housworth and the 4 x100 relay team to regionals as they earned top-three finishes.
