Women's Golf in Seventh After First Round of OVC Tournament

TUNICA, Miss. - Competing in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference golf tournament, held at the Tunica National Golf Course in Tunica, Mississippi, the Tennessee State women's golf team faced challenging conditions, contending with wind gusts reaching up to 30 mph.

Despite the adverse weather, the Tigers found themselves in the hunt as they are in 7th place out of 9 teams after today's first round. The Tigers carded a team score of 334.

Leading the charge for TSU was Erin Marcelino, who finished tied for 7th place after firing a 78. Trixie Sabulao followed closely behind, finishing with an 81 to tie for 15th place. Lucia Pantigozo posted an 86, landing her in 38th place, while TaLese Vaughn rounded out the team's performance with a score of 89.

The Tigers will return to the course tomorrow morning as they are set to play round two of the three-day 54-hole tournament.
