CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Tennessee State men's track and field team secured two gold medals and five top-three finishes after finishing 4
th out of nine teams in the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships. The Flying Tigers tallied 81 points in the three-day event that was held on the campus of Eastern Illinois.
Kenyon Johnson took home one of two gold medals for the Tigers after earning a first-place finish in the triple jump with a 15.71m leap.
The Flying Tiger 4 x 400m relay team of
Quest Agee,
Morgan Jones,
Nigel Simon Jr., and
Thurman McMullen secured a first-place finishing after crossing the finish line in just 3:11.52 to give the Tigers their second gold medal of the Championships.
Two true freshmen showed out for TSU as
Korbin Brown collected a 2
nd place finish in the long jump with a 7.54m mark, while also taking home 3
rd in the triple jump with a 14.93m leap.
Jonathan Wade secured a 2
nd place finish in the high jump with a 6'8.75".
David Dorsey finished two spots behind Brown in the long jump with a 4
th place finish after logging a 7.34m jump.
Keandric Verge finished in 7
th in the long jump, while finishing in 4
th in the triple jump with a 14.84m leap.
McMullen ran well in the 100m hurdles after registering a 14.21 to finish in 4
th place.
