NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State track and field teams delivered strong performances at the Commodore Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt.
Men's Heptathlon —Israel Fayne secured fourth place in the men's heptathlon with marks of 7.49 seconds in the 60-meter dash, 5.90 meters in the long jump, and 2:35.44 in the 1,000 meters. Teammate Kylen Thorp finished fifth with a 7.45 in the 60 meters, a 6.63-meter long jump, and a 3:43.56 in the 1,000 meters.
200-Meter Performances — Caleb Joshway led the Tigers with an 11th-place finish in 21.81 seconds, while Quest Agee clocked 22.65 for 31st. On the women's side, Serenity Harry placed 34th with a time of 25.57, and A'Marie Khan ran 25.82 to finish 40th.
Long Jump — Kolby Jones placed seventh with a leap of 6.94 meters. Avery McKinnen and Korbin Brown followed with jumps of 6.64 meters and 6.61 meters, respectively. In the women's long jump, Kaitlyn Cook posted a 5.54-meter mark for a solid showing, while Olivia Allison recorded a jump of 4.97 meters.
Shot Put — Garrison Holland placed 16th in the men's shot put with a throw of 11.35 meters. For the women, Carolyn McRee led the Tigers with a 17th-place finish at 12.22 meters, followed by Ayana Pugg in 19th with a throw of 11.54 meters.
Hurdles — Kaitlyn Cook delivered a top-10 finish in the women's 60-meter hurdles final, placing eighth with a time of 8.88 seconds.
4x400-Meter Relays — The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Oladipo Akomolafe, Joshua McClendon, Devin Jones, and Nigel Simon finished seventh with a time of 3:14.15. Freshman Devin Jones led a strong third leg before passing the baton to Simon for the anchor leg. The women's 4x400-meter relay team of A'Syriah Boyd, Sanura Branigan, Giah Thomas, and Serenity Harry ran 3:54.84 to place 18th.
