KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee State men's and women's track and field teams delivered several standout performances against elite regional competition at the Tennessee Invitational, continuing to build momentum during the outdoor season.
The Tigers recorded strong finishes across sprints, middle distance, hurdles, relays, and field events while competing against a nationally competitive field.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Tennessee State saw solid performances across multiple events on the women's side, highlighted by strong efforts in both track and field competition.
Olivia Allison turned in one of the top performances of the meet for TSU, earning a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.17 meters (16-11.50). Allison also added another strong showing in the triple jump with a mark of 11.26 meters (36-11.50).
In the high jump, Madison Houston-Boykin cleared 1.55 meters (5-1) to lead the Tigers.
On the track, Haley Blades paced Tennessee State in the middle-distance events, recording a time of 2:18.43 in the 800 meters, while Sydney McGee added a 2:25.02 finish.
In sprint competition, A'Marie Khan posted a time of 25.92 in the 200 meters, while Eriyanna Reed finished in 27.21.
The hurdles and long sprint group also contributed strong efforts, with Quinn Hudson running 1:07.74 in the 400-meter hurdles and Pearl Onwnmbiko finishing in 1:08.63.
In the throws, Ayana Pugh led Tennessee State with a mark of 38.79 meters (127-3) in the discus.
MEN'S RECAP
The Tennessee State men produced several standout performances highlighted by strong sprinting and middle-distance results.
Caleb Joshway led the Tigers' sprint group, clocking 10.43 in the 100 meters and 21.29 in the 200 meters.
Damon Jackson added times of 10.73 in the 100 meters and 22.26 in the 200 meters, while Joshua McClendon posted a strong 47.72 finish in the 400 meters.
In middle-distance competition, Devin Jones delivered one of TSU's top performances of the weekend, running 1:49.97 in the 800 meters. Robert Hooper followed with a strong 3:51.75 showing in the 1500 meters, while Delton White contributed solid finishes in both the 800 and 1500.
The hurdles group continued its steady progress as Bryce Sparks ran 14.77 in the 110-meter hurdles, joined by Brian Townsend and Bobby Teixeira, who added competitive performances.
Tennessee State's relay squads also competed well, highlighted by a 40.96 finish in the 4x100-meter relay and 3:12.31 in the 4x400-meter relay.
In field events, Kolby Jones and Christian White led the long jump group with marks of 7.17 meters (23-6.25) and 7.12 meters (23-4.50), respectively. Preston Fuller cleared 4.31 meters (14-1.75) in the pole vault to add another strong field event result for the Tigers.
