BRENTWOOD, TENN. – Tennessee State cross country standouts Sydney McGee and Robert Hooper have been named this week's TSU Runners of the Week following their strong performances at the UAH Chargers Invitational in Huntsville, Ala.
Robert Hooper – Men's Runner of the Week
Junior Robert Hooper continued his breakout season by pacing the TSU men for the third consecutive meet. Hooper finished 77th overall in a field of more than 180 runners, clocking a 25:58.6 in the 8K race – his fastest time of the season. His effort led the Tigers to a 23rd-place team finish, marking their best collective performance of the year.
Hooper's time trimmed nearly a minute from his previous outing and moved him closer to breaking the 25-minute barrier heading into championship competition.
Sydney McGee – Women's Runner of the Week
On the women's side, junior Sydney McGee earned her first Runner of the Week honor of the season after turning in a career-best 27:43.3 in the 6K. McGee led the Lady Tigers and placed 155th overall in a deep regional field, improving her pace by more than a minute from her previous race.
McGee's performance anchored a consistent effort for the TSU women, who posted a team total of 2:28:43 and continued to show steady progression as a group.
