JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Tennessee State track and field team delivered a strong performance at the River City Relays, highlighted by Caleb Joshway, who claimed first place in three events.
Men's Recap
Joshway led the way in the men's 100-meter dash, sprinting to victory in 10.66 seconds. He continued his success in the 200-meter race, securing first place in 21.41 seconds. Oladipo Akomolafe placed fifth (21.97), Joshua McClendon finished seventh (22.35), and Damon Jackson took 11th (23.02), rounding out a strong showing for TSU.
TSU's 4x400-meter relay team wasn't to be outdone, as Nigel Simon, Morgan Jones, Akomolafe, and Joshua McClendon dominated the field to take first place with a winning time of 3:11.51.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Quest Agee, Jonathan Wade, Jones and Simon earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:29.69.
Women's Recap
The Tigerbelles began with a commanding victory in the women's 4x200-meter relay, as Syriah Boyd, A'Marie Khan, Kara Stewart, and Kaitlyn Cook raced to a first-place finish in 1:45.07.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Sanura Branigan, Serenity Harry, Syriah Boyd, and Selena Carlyle followed with another first-place finish, clocking in at 3:56.01.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles final, Kaitlyn Cook led the way with a first-place finish in 14.66 seconds. Natalya Bryant placed second (14.85), and Kara Stewart took third (15.15), giving TSU a podium sweep. Pearl Onwnmbiko and Selena Carlyle rounded out the field in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Serenity Harry excelled in the women's 100-meter dash, securing second place in 12.02 seconds. Carlyle (12.29), Khan (12.42), and Stewart (12.64) also contributed strong performances. Harry continued her success in the 200-meter dash, finishing second in 24.68 seconds, while Branigan placed third in 25.02. Khan and Sydney McGee finished 11th and 16th, respectively.
In the field events, Avery McKinnon dominated the men's triple jump, earning first place with a leap of 14.16 meters. Kolby Jones (13.84 meters) and Korbin Brown (13.58 meters) finished second and third, securing a podium sweep for TSU. Cook delivered a strong performance in the women's triple jump, placing fourth with a jump of 12.16 meters.
In the women's discus, Ayana Pugh placed fourth with a throw of 35.34 meters, while Carolyn McRee finished sixth with a mark of 31.28 meters.
