Hibbert Leads TSU in Strong Showing at HBCU National Championships

ATLANTA – Tennessee State men's tennis delivered one of its strongest showings in recent memory at the 2025 HBCU National Championships, highlighted by Taj Hibbert's singles crown and a doubles title alongside James Adler Germinal.

The Tigers finished third in the overall men's standings with 52 points, trailing only champion North Carolina Central (82) and runner-up Alabama State (57). The performance marked a significant step forward for TSU in the nationally recognized fall showcase.

Taj Hibbert proved to be the star of the tournament for the Tigers. He rolled through the Men's A Singles draw, defeating Yin Chih Lan of Alabama A&M 6-1, 6-3 in the opener and carrying his momentum all the way to the championship match, where he secured the title to bring home TSU's first singles crown of the weekend.

Hibbert wasn't done there. Teaming with James Adler Germinal, the duo stormed through the Men's A Doubles bracket, claiming the championship to complete a clean sweep of the top individual and doubles honors.
