NASHVILLE — The Tennessee State track and field program returns home Saturday to host the Edward S. Temple Invitational at the Gentry Center, welcoming teams from across the region for a full day of indoor competition beginning at 9 a.m.

The meet marks TSU's first home competition of the indoor season and comes on the heels of a strong season-opening performance at the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener, where multiple Tigers recorded personal bests and top finishes against a deep field.

The Tigers enter Saturday with momentum on the track, led by Devin Jones and Robert Hooper after both posted personal records in their respective events last weekend. Jones delivered a breakthrough performance in the 600 meters, showcasing his strength over the final laps, while Hooper turned in a lifetime-best effort in the mile, executing a patient race plan and strong close.

TSU's middle-distance group will again be a focal point, with several athletes continuing to build consistency early in the season. On the women's side, Sydney McGee, Haley Blades, Quinn Hudson, and Maleia Ali are expected to compete as they continue to establish baseline performances heading into conference season. Kara Stewart will also look to improve upon her season-opening mark in the hurdles.

The Tigers' field athletes will aim to carry over solid performances from the opener. Olivia Allison highlighted the jumps group last weekend with a top-eight finish in the triple jump, while Madison Houston-Boykin and Haley Blades added valuable points in the vertical and horizontal events. In the throws, Ayana Pugh and Carolyn McRee provided strong results, with McRee recording a personal best in the weight throw.

Relay action will once again be a key component of the meet, as TSU looks to build depth and chemistry in the 4x400. The Tigers closed the Vanderbilt meet with two competitive relay performances and will look to sharpen handoffs and race execution on their home track.

Saturday's meet also serves as an important early-season measuring stick as Tennessee State continues preparing for Ohio Valley Conference competition later this winter. With the advantage of competing at home and the confidence gained from last week's results, the Tigers will look to continue trending upward in front of their home crowd.
