Tennis Opens Fall Competition at ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State men's and women's tennis opens its 2026 fall campaign Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Championships. The Tigers will compete in separate tournaments, with the men traveling to College Grove, Tenn., and the women heading to Cincinnati, Ohio, for competition running through Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Seven Tennessee State student-athletes are listed across the two regional championships, including four men's players and three women's players. The tournaments mark the first competition of the fall season for both programs, with singles and doubles draws featuring NCAA Division I opponents from throughout the Ohio Valley Region.

Men's Tennis

Tennessee State will send four players to the men's regional championship at Farm & Forge in College Grove, Tenn.

Seniors Alexander Adamec and Christopher Bogelin, junior James Adler Germinal and freshman Todor Vukimanivc are entered in both singles and doubles competition.

Adamec, a native of Naples, Fla., and Bogelin, from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, lead the Tigers' contingent as the team's two seniors. Germinal, a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native, enters his junior campaign, while Vukimanivc, from Belgrade, Serbia, makes his first appearance in collegiate fall competition.

The four Tigers will compete in a field of 194 registered players, with the tournament featuring qualifying and main-draw competition.

Women's Tennis

The Tennessee State women's team will compete at the University of Cincinnati, with three Tigers listed in the tournament's official entry field.

Victoria Cooksey and Julie Tungamirai are entered in both singles and doubles competition, while Natalie Walsh will compete in singles.

The women's regional features 164 listed participants, bringing together players from programs throughout the region. The tournament provides Tennessee State an opportunity to open its fall schedule against regional competition while gaining experience in individual tournament play.

Tournament Information

The ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships serve as a qualifying event for the NCAA Individual Championships, scheduled for Nov. 5–8 in Athens, Ga.

The two singles finalists from each regional championship will earn automatic qualification to the NCAA Singles Championship, while the doubles champion will secure a berth in the NCAA Doubles Championship.

Both regional tournaments begin Thursday with singles qualifying. Main-draw singles and doubles competition starts Friday, Oct. 9, with play continuing through Tuesday.

Tungamirai is scheduled to face Indiana's Nicole Sifuentes in women's singles qualifying Thursday at 11 a.m. ET.
