LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Tennessee State track and field put an emphatic cap on the 2026 indoor season with a competitive, medal-winning performance at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships, held February 24–25 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Men's Recap
The Tigers closed the meet — and the indoor campaign — in championship fashion, striking gold in the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet of Devin Jones, Kylen Thorps, Robert Hooper, and Joshua McClendon powered to a first-place finish in 3:14.69, delivering Tennessee State's top podium moment of the meet.
Middle-distance events proved to be a major strength, as TSU earned both silver and bronze in the 800 meters. Devin Jones captured the silver medal in 1:51.55, while Robert Hooper followed closely to claim bronze in 1:51.94, combining for 14 points on the oval.
In the field, Jonathan Wade soared to a silver medal in the high jump, clearing 2.05 meters (6'8.75"), while Kolby Jones secured bronze in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 14.65 meters. Wade also added points with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump.
On the sprint side, Caleb Joshway reached the finals in both the 60 meters and 200 meters, earning fifth-place finishes in each, including a 21.67 in the 200. Joshua McClendon added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters (48.53) before anchoring the gold-medal relay.
Women's Recap
The TSU women closed the indoor season with multiple podium appearances, led by Serenity Harry, who earned bronze in the 60 meters with a time of 7.59 and followed with a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (24.44).
In the 60-meter hurdles, Tennessee State placed two athletes in the final, with Kara Stewart and Pearl Onwnmbiko finishing seventh and eighth, respectively.
Field events continued to contribute to the scoring effort as Olivia Allison placed seventh in the triple jump (11.66m). In the throws, Ayana Pugh scored in both events, finishing seventh in the shot put (12.46m) and eighth in the weight throw (15.63m), while Carolyn McRee added solid performances in each discipline.
Season Wrap
With gold in the 4x400 relay, silver and bronze medal finishes across the oval and in the field, and finalists in nearly every event group, Tennessee State closed the 2026 indoor season with momentum and championship experience.
The Tigers will return to action to kick off the outdoor season at the Ole Miss Classic, hosted by the University of Mississippi, March 20–21 in Oxford.
