Softball Heads to Macon, Ga For Mercer Invitational

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee State softball team heads back on the road this weekend as the Tigers travel to Macon, Georgia, to compete in the second installment of the 3-day, 4-team MUSB Invitational hosted by Mercer University.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28
Game 1: 12:30 p.m. ET vs. Presbyterian
Game 2: 5:30 p.m. ET vs. Mercer

SUNDAY, MARCH 1
Game 1: 10:30 a.m. ET vs. Columbia
Game 2: 3:30 p.m. ET vs. Mercer

LAST TIME OUT

The Tigers are coming off competition at the Bucs Tournament in Johnson City, Tennessee, hosted by East Tennessee State University.

TSU opened the weekend with a 17-0 setback against ETSU before falling 12-0 to Bowling Green. The Tigers closed the tournament with a tightly contested 8-7 loss to the host Buccaneers, showing offensive spark in the finale after plating seven runs.

ABOUT TENNESSEE STATE

Tennessee State is looking to build momentum early in the 2026 campaign as the Tigers continue tournament play. Despite a challenging start to the season, TSU has shown resilience at the plate, highlighted by a seven-run performance in its most recent outing.

The Tigers will look to tighten things up defensively and in the circle while continuing to find consistency offensively against a competitive four-team field in Macon.

SCOUTING THE FIELD

Mercer enters the weekend hosting the tournament at Sikes Field and brings power at the plate, ranking among national leaders in home runs early this season.

Presbyterian carries a balanced attack with a strong team ERA and efficient pitching staff.

Columbia continues to search for its first win of the season but has remained competitive in several close contests.
