Joshway, Thorps Lead Track and Field at Ole Miss Classic

OXFORD, MISS. – Tennessee State track and field competed at the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Mississippi, turning in a strong showing highlighted by multiple podium finishes, personal bests, and depth across both track and field events.

On the men's side, Caleb Joshway led the sprint group with a fourth-place finish in the 100m (10.42) before returning to place third in the 200m (21.45). Damon Jackson and Jayen Guy added solid efforts in both events, contributing to the Tigers' depth in the short sprints.

The hurdles group delivered one of the top performances of the meet. Bobby Teixeira and Brian Townsend both clocked 14.65 in the 110m hurdles to finish third and fifth, respectively, while Bryce Sparks placed sixth. In the 400m hurdles, Kylen Thorps earned a runner-up finish with a personal-best 53.32, and Townsend added a fourth-place finish (56.44).

In the 400m, Devin Jones recorded a personal-best 47.72 to place third, while Michael Harris also posted a PR (51.06). In middle-distance action, Robert Hooper secured a second-place finish in the 800m with a personal-best time of 1:51.21.

In the field events, Jonathan Wade led the way with a third-place finish in the high jump (2.00m) and matched that mark with another third-place finish in the long jump (6.90m), while also placing sixth in the triple jump. Kolby Jones added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (14.68m) and fifth in the long jump. In the throws, Preston Fuller recorded a personal-best in the discus (35.03m), while Sam White and Israel Fayne contributed across multiple events.

On the women's side, Kara Stewart paced the group with a third-place finish in the 100m hurdles (14.78) and also competed in the 100m and 4x100 relay. Serenity Harry led the sprint group with top-10 finishes in both the 100m (12.01) and 200m (24.71).

Freshman Kaymin Sales turned in a strong performance with a personal-best 58.14 in the 400m, while also competing in the 200m and running on the 4x100 relay team. Haley Blades added a personal-best of 1:00.78 in the 400m.

In the field events, Carolyn McRee recorded a personal-best throw of 38.96m in the discus to place ninth and also finished ninth in the shot put. Ayana Pugh added an 11th-place finish in the shot put, while Madison Houston-Boykin cleared a personal-best height of 1.55m in the high jump.

Tennessee State also saw solid relay performances, with the men's 4x100 team placing fourth (41.59) and the women's team finishing fifth (47.40).

The Tigers combined strong finishes and a number of personal records as they continue to build momentum during the outdoor season.
