Men's Tennis Opens season with Losses at Morehead and EKU
The Tennessee State men's tennis team opened their 2010 season with 0-7 losses at Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky.
At Morehead State (3/19), newcomer Lawrence Washington pushed his first match at #1 singles to 7-5 before losing the second set (and match) 6-2. Justin Hamm , Aaron Fields , Austin Fields and Michah Poole dropped their matches in straight sets. In doubles, the team of Washington and Hamm lost 8-1 with Au. Fields and Aa. Fields dropping their match 8-1.
At Eastern Kentucky (3/20), Washington lost in a tie-breaker in the first #1 singles match, 7-6 (3) before losing the second set 6-4. Hamm lost 6-1, 6-0 in #2 singles, Aa. Fields lost 6-2, 6-0 at #3, Au. Fields dropped his #4 singles 6-1, 6-0 and Poole retired at 3-0 at #5. In doubles, Hamm/Washington lost 8-2 and Au. Fields/Aa. Fields lost 8-4.
Men's tennis will return to action on Saturday, March 27th when they host Jacksonville State at 1:30 on the Tiger Courts on Schrader Lane/Ed Temple Blvd.
